Jason became a therapist out of a desire to work directly with the relational and emotional struggles he repeatedly witnessed in his research and teaching—particularly isolation, anxiety, burnout, sexual health concerns, and relationship distress. His academic work has explored student success, wellbeing, contemplative sciences, and sexual harm. He continues to teach a course on sexual health, sexual harm, and peer leadership at the University of Virginia.
At the heart of Jason’s clinical work is a deep belief in the human need for connection. He approaches therapy with warmth, openness, and compassion, striving to create a space where individuals and couples feel safe to slow down, explore emotions, and make sense of the patterns that shape their relationships. He understands that distress often emerges not from a lack of effort or care, but from unmet attachment needs, protective strategies, and moments of disconnection.
Jason works with individuals and couples to strengthen emotional awareness, communication, and mutual responsiveness. His background in sexual health and sexual harm informs a trauma-aware, somatically informed approach that supports clients in reconnecting with their bodies, clarifying boundaries, and cultivating intimacy grounded in safety and consent. Through therapy, clients are supported in building more secure, responsive relationships—with others and with themselves.
Jason sees clients in-person or virtually on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays at our Berkmar Circle office. To work with Jason, please contact us to schedule an appointment. Please note that Jason is required to record his sessions as he works toward certification in Emotionally Focused Therapy.
