1 in 8 cisgender women (and individuals assigned female at birth) struggles with infertility. I stand with them, their partners, and their families. Too often, they stand alone. The impact of infertility on a partnership, a marriage, a family is far reaching and does not end, even if the goal of baby is met.
Matrescence: the process of building a mother. Where all feelings are valid:
The Lancet recently published a study out of Canada which shows an increase in maternal depressive and anxiety symptoms during the pandemic. While this might seem common knowledge to some, having research to underscore needs often drives policy and program funding. Some highlights:
Aa adults, we have the opportunity to come along side our 8 year old, 12 year old, 15 year old selves. The young self often awakens when feelings are hurt or when we feel like we don't fit in. We can begin to soothe our worried, younger self with words of affirmation, love, power, truth.
This feels important to repeat. The pandemic seems to have created, for some, a feeling of failure.
If you want to conquer the anxiety of life, live in the moment, live in the breath.

Our brains make up stories to make sense of what we don't know. We do this because humans don't sit well with unknowns. We can't abide there not being a reason, so we devise one, and it usually has something to do with us. Stories like:
